Summer Horror

Greetings

This summer looks to be a real spine tingler with some great looking Horror films coming out. I am most excited about Let the Right One In which by all accounts should be stunningly beautiful and damn nasty! There is also the remake of Wes Craven’s Last House on the Left which will never be as disturbing as the original but should entertain and terrify never the less. To top it off Horror legend Sam Raimi is releasing Drag me to Hell (Great title) which promises to be a treat like his previous offerings.

Horror fans have never had it so good but if you want to go further and be a part of the next big Horror film join this site and support British Horror. We need all you blood suckers out there to sign up and help us reinstate British Horror at the top of the hanging tree.

Atkinson & Dormehl Documentary gets rave review from Film4

LARGE 4.5 Stars base Yellow Site BG SMALL.jpg
"The Pantomime is fantastic! Oh yes it is..." - Film4

Our recent 30min documentary "The Pantomime" made in the sleepy hamlet of Batheaston has garnered fantastic praise from Film4 with a four and a half star review!

The film follows the staging of the annual amateur Christmas Panto in a small British village and all the tantrums, politics and drama that come with it. Described by Film4, who funded 'Slumdog Millionaire', as being:

"The rich sort of drama you rarely find on the great stages of the world." and with a cast that "could easily have been culled from an Alan Bennett play... or Nick Park's 'Creature Comforts'."

Another reviewer adds:

"Like Dormehl and Atkinson's previous outings on wrestling and comic strip legend Roy of the Rovers, this is a definite must-see. They are certainly one of the most exciting documentary-making teams working at the moment. As they are also the duo behind the ten pound horror feature film though, their foray into the world of cinema should substantially add to their already growing reputations. These guys are good!"

I have posted a ten minute highlights film of 'The Pantomime' in the Members area so sign up now to take a look and let me know what you think.

The story so far

Hi there,

Wow! We have received some fantastic support for the production from some legends of film. Check out the Press and Contacts page to see the best of them.

We have started publicising The 10 Pound Horror Film in the UK and will then roll in out internationally but we already have subscribers from America, Canada, France and Australia. Despite being a British film we really want the input and involvement of people from around the world. I devised this production to break some of the traditional routes for making a film and through the community of Horror Fiends want to pool talents from all over the planet to make the best film we can.

I think this production method is only possible today because of the power of the internet and want to harness this power and bring together people who want to start or further a career in film. I am sure the product will be a truly 21st century film with a greater level of creative input as a result. I am very excited about the production and from the feedback we have had from Directors such as Nicolas Roeg I am not the only one. We need your help to make this happen so tell all your friends to sign up as it takes a lot of people to make a film so be a part of film history and help bring back British Horror!

Greetings Horror Fans

First off, thanks for checking out http://www.the10poundhorrorfilm.com/

So what is there to write in this debut blog?

Well, I suppose a bit of background to myself would be useful.

My name is Luke Dormehl (that is a Dutch South African surname for those
of you who are wondering) and I've been making films since I was eight.
The first one was ironically (or perhaps just prophetically) a horror
film: an eight year olds version of ALIEN (which is more-or-less like a
chest-bursting version of Citizen Kane for people who love horror films).

I made short films all the way through primary and senior school before
talking my way on to a film set one summer holidays to work as a
Production Assistant (you know, those people who make coffee for the
extras on a film set). After school I took a gap year and spent it
working for a local television production company making the most
embarrassing corporate videos ever.

Things got serious when I went to university. In a move which I hope
will get the sympathy (although probably not the empathy) of students
everywhere, I gave up alcohol for three years as well as using my
student loan and working as a bin man and milk factory worker in order
to buy myself film equipment. Using this I started making documentaries,
the most recent of which comes out next month and Ill provide more
details nearer the time.

So what will the end result of this project be? Well, hopefully it will
end up with a finished feature-length horror film in your local cinemas.
At absolute worse, this website will offer a fascinating look at what it
takes to put a film together. Every single success, failure, triumph,
trauma et al will be recorded here; giving you an insight into how a
film like this comes together.

Right now, thanks to the support of horror icons like Kane Hodder
(Jason in Friday the 13th), filmmakers like Jonathan King (Black Sheep)
and Adam Green (Hatchet) we have the best start you could want for a project like this.

In subsequent blog instalments, I will fill you in on how we got to the
point we are currently with this project, but in the meantime, please sign up to the website. It only costs £10 to support this film, and the end result is going to be fantastic! Otherwise, just drop me an email lukedormehl@the10poundhorrorfilm.com with a couple of words of encouragement
or any questions you may have.

Until next time --

Excelsior!

Luke Dormehl
